SUMMARY:Shared Mobility Rocks!
DESCRIPTION:Less car ownership\, more sustainable mobility\, less emissions\, and more urban space. What is the connection between all of them? Shared Mobility! \nQueen\, Neil Young\, Tina Turner\, The Tragically Hip\, and Barenaked Ladies. What is the connection here? Rock of course! \nWhat event do you get if you combine these elements? Shared Mobility Rocks! \nThe brilliant Shared Mobility Rocks brand was created by the Flemish NGOs Autodelen.net and Mpact for their annual unconvential shared mobility symposium. Modelling the event after a festival has allowed the organizer to infuse a different energy and really focus on how to make shared mobility rock from an operational and regulatory perspective. \nThe Shared Mobility Rocks adventure started in 2018 with the first edition in Aalst (Belgium). The second edition took place in 2019 in Brussels. Due to Covid-19\, the third edition was postponed. Instead\, we organised a student challenge to imagine the mobihub of the future. In 2021 we went on a 24 hour online tour around the world connecting with different studios from our home studio in Ghent (Belgium). \nAnd in 2022\, we hosted the fourth edition in Bremen. We welcomed over 200 participants from across Europe and the globe (Japan\, Mexico or Uganda)\, enjoying the presentations from 50 speakers and moderators. \nWhat started as a purely European event\, has taken international guests by storm which is why Shared Mobility Rocks is going on tour: In 2023\, movmi teamed up with Autodelen.net and Mpact to bring Shared Mobility Rocks to Vancouver. \nWhile the focus on shared mobility and the rock vibe will remain the same\, we’re doing things a little different this year: \n1) We’re introducing a mini industry showcase at the event \n2) We’re adding a pre-conference mingler the day before \n3) We will be recording a live podcast on the day of the conference

SUMMARY:TRANSED: Mobility\, Accessibility & Demand Response Transportation Conference
DESCRIPTION:Omar Kabbani\, our Transit Data Specialist\, will be presenting some of his work at the conference. \n  \nConvened by Transportation Research Board\, the TRANSED: Mobility\, Accessibility & Demand Response Transportation Conference will be held virtually\, September 12-16\, 2022. This conference combines two long standing conferences with similar content: the “16th International Conference on Mobility and Transport for Older Adults and People with Disabilities (TRANSED)” and the “5th International Conference on Demand Responsive Transport (DRT)”. The theme of this combined conference is “Inclusive Accessible and Sustainable Demand Response Transportation”. The Conference aims to describe current global research\, services to improve mobility and accessibility for individuals with disabilities and for older adults\, and best practices in providing demand responsive transportation (paratransit). \nThe overarching conference theme addresses the chasm between academic research and real-world planning practice and project implementations of sustainable\, inclusive and accessible mobility. Conferees will also address the disconnect between the transportation analyses that agencies conduct and conditions on the ground for providers of sustainable and accessible mobility solutions. Successful implementation of mobility concepts is reliant on inclusive design\, a business and service plan to attract and retain riders and funding\, staff and user training\, and a comprehensive accessible technology base. Accordingly\, we seek contributions from researchers\, practitioners\, and others\, such as non-profits and charitable organizations and manufacturers.  Participants will represent a wide range of lived and professional experiences and discuss how diverse perspectives are included in policy development\, project selection\, and mitigation to advance transportation inclusion and accessibility. \nThe combined TRANSED DRT conference will offer an agenda for participants to attend traditional panel and technical sessions. The conference will include sessions using accepted submissions from this Call for Abstracts that are socially interactive\, engaging\, and enable creative learning and sharing \nOverview\nThe TRANSED series of conferences have\, since 1978\, provided the premier international forum to exchange ideas on what works and why\, and to share innovations\, promising practices\, and technological developments\, and research on accessible transportation\, mobility and travel. TRB’s series of Demand Response conferences have explored the state of practices and innovations in paratransit operations and planning by leading practitioners\, planners and researchers in the paratransit community from across the country and the world. This combined conference will enable a vibrant exchange of perspectives and information\, offering a venue to develop future collaborations. \nThis combined conference will showcase international innovation and technological solutions for accessible transportation and travel through papers\, posters and other media presentation formats\, as well as through an exhibition of products\, services\, and best practices.  Conferees will also have the opportunity to participate in training workshops and technical visits.  Above all\, attendees will study and use the concept of the Complete Trip or Trip Chain to identify elements of trips that need improvement to achieve inclusion for everyone and reduce difficulties and barriers for individual users. \nTwo major crises – global climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic – have highlighted the need for the provision of demand responsive services to reach healthcare\, and accelerated development of new mobility options within the Transit Family of Services. New and developing technologies like microtransit\, micro mobility\, automated vehicles\, and app-based services are also beginning to transform our transportation systems. This conference is the continuation of a long-term effort and process to understand how demand response and fixed route transit and other transportation systems are integrated while addressing accessibility and inclusion. Sustainable projects serving the entire community needs to be the product of community expertise from multiple perspectives\, technical and academic research and analysis\, management motivation\, staff training as well as better design and new accessible technology.

SUMMARY:Autonomy Digital 2.0
DESCRIPTION:Panel at Autonomy Digital 2.0: Rediscovering “new” mobility modes post Covid-19 and how they shape the cities\nPanelists\n\nErdem Ovacik\, Donkey Republic\, Co-founder & CEO\nMiryad Ali\, French National Access Point (transport.data.gouv.fr)\, Open Data Manager\nPierre Carbonne\, enRoute\, Head of Marketing\nScott Shepard\, Iomob\, VP Global Public Sector\nTu-Tho Thai\, MobilityData\, Director\, Partnerships Europe & Events\n\nPanel details\nThe pandemic of Covid-19 had a large impact on mobility. For some cities\, it came with a surge in biking and pop-up bike lanes\, creating a sudden surge in the demand for “new” mobility modes. Looking forward\, this will shape our new cities and mobility durably. Our panelists will discuss: \n\nNew mobility modes and their meaning\nThe pandemic put more people on bikes\, scooters\, and other new modes. While some cities created pop-up bike lanes\, operators are looking into making these new habits sustainable in the long run. What does it imply from the operators’ viewpoint?\nHow cities are going back to initial urban planning strategies\nWith social distancing rules\, most people have rediscovered their neighborhood. The 15-minutes city became a reality for most of them and their travels are getting shorter\, closer. Some are saying it is how cities are supposed to be designed from now on\, but were they not initial urban planning strategies?\nThe need for discoverability\nNew modes\, new journeys\, new traveling habits: if anything it underlines the importance of making transportation options discoverable to all travelers. For more sustainable operations\, vibrant cities\, and an active population\, one needs to know\, understand\, and plan seamlessly one’s journey balancing one’s needs with one’s impact.\nInteroperability and its importance\nTo make mobility options discoverable across platforms\, apps\, and others\, there is the need for interoperability between the systems and the languages used. What are the different challenges of interoperability? How to map the different standards and make sure we move forwards? How to support operators to navigate these questions?\nMultimodality and governance: challenges & opportunities\nTo support the development of multimodality\, the change of cities towards a greener and more sustainable approach of urban planning\, there is the need to have stronger governance. What can public authorities do to support the industry?
