SUMMARY:CIE Summit
DESCRIPTION:Meet our team at this event. Rencontrez notre équipe à cet événement. \nThe premier EU Cycling Industry Event of the year returns on 9 March 2023 in Brussels \nThis year\, our focus will be on a European Cycling Strategy. We believe cycling is the solution to some of the most pressing challenges Europe is facing today\, from providing zero carbon mobility to our cities and helping to fight against the climate emergency\, to growing a resilient economy with 2 million green jobs by 2030. We want to see more bikes made in Europe and a thriving cycling industry accelerating green and digital transition in Europe. \nCycling stakeholders are making the case for an ambitious and comprehensive EU-level strategy to double the number of kilometres cycled in Europe by 2030 and build a more resilient and sustainable European cycling industry. The CIE Summit brings together the EU institutions\, national governments and cycling industry leaders to share the very latest news on how this ambitious plan could: \n\nDouble the number of kilometres cycled by people in Europe\nRecognise cycling as a priority mode of transport and mobility industry\nSupport a competitive\, resilient\, sustainable cycling industry\nBridge an investment gap for infrastructure and industrial transition\, backed by regulatory and trade stability to give a basis for investment confidence.\nSupport the local and regional structures needed to retain workers\,\nInvest in new technologies and make the transition to sustainable production of bikes and components.\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Webinar series: Building Open Source Transport Data Collection Tools: A Sustainable Approach
DESCRIPTION:Watch the replay of the webinar \nThe DigitalTransport4Africa (DT4A) Webinar Series is a monthly webinar organized by WRI Africa and Global with DT4A consortium partners. The goal of the series is to facilitate knowledge exchange around public transport and data initiatives taking place in African cities and beyond\, especially those undertaken by the consortium partners. \nThe lack of transport data for the diverse modes in African cities often results in decisions being taken without consideration for what exists\, what works\, and what does not. While collecting transport data is an important first step in supporting digital transformation of African cities for better mobility services and access\, one cannot deny that it comes at a cost. However\, ways exist to lower costs and improve impact through open data\, open-source tools and building “digital commons”. To facilitate data collection and sharing\, Arcadis IBI Group\, MobilityData\, and Trufi have developed open-source tools. They will demonstrate their tools and share with you how to access them\, but also discuss how to go beyond mapping to leverage the collected data and tools for improved services. \nSpeakers:\n\nDenis Paz Jiménez\, Business Development Manager\, Trufi Association e.V.\nPhilip Cline\, Transit Technology Analyst\, Arcadis IBI Group\nRitesh Warade\, Director\, Arcadis IBI Group\nTu-Tho Thai\, Director Partnerships & Events\, MobilityData

SUMMARY:TransportationCamp 2023
DESCRIPTION:  \nMobilityData members will attend this conference. \n—- \nWhether you’re working on transportation\, studying transportation planning\, or advocating for a system that works better for all\, join us at TransportationCamp DC on Saturday\, January 7\, 2023 at Van Metre Hall on George Mason University’s Arlington campus. \nTransportationCamp DC is an annual unconference. Each year\, the participants create the program by proposing and leading sessions on the topics that matter most to them. This year’s event will include a virtual option\, allowing attendees to view the keynote\, select hybrid sessions\, and virtual-only sessions from the comfort of their own homes. \nNational trends continue to present new challenges for our transportation system. Severe weather events fueled by climate change call for resilient infrastructure and more opportunities for low-emissions travel. U.S. traffic deaths continue to rise\, even when fewer drivers are on the road. Transit agencies are still recovering from a reduced workforce and decreased revenues. Join the event to connect with advocates\, experts\, and decision makers to renew your work and find ways to make transportation work better for all. \nAfter Camp\, join us for appetizers and drinks at a reception presented by INRIX. Meet us at Baby Wale\, across the street from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in DC. Bring your attendee badge for free entry!

SUMMARY:TRANSED: Mobility\, Accessibility & Demand Response Transportation Conference
DESCRIPTION:Omar Kabbani\, our Transit Data Specialist\, will be presenting some of his work at the conference. \n  \nConvened by Transportation Research Board\, the TRANSED: Mobility\, Accessibility & Demand Response Transportation Conference will be held virtually\, September 12-16\, 2022. This conference combines two long standing conferences with similar content: the “16th International Conference on Mobility and Transport for Older Adults and People with Disabilities (TRANSED)” and the “5th International Conference on Demand Responsive Transport (DRT)”. The theme of this combined conference is “Inclusive Accessible and Sustainable Demand Response Transportation”. The Conference aims to describe current global research\, services to improve mobility and accessibility for individuals with disabilities and for older adults\, and best practices in providing demand responsive transportation (paratransit). \nThe overarching conference theme addresses the chasm between academic research and real-world planning practice and project implementations of sustainable\, inclusive and accessible mobility. Conferees will also address the disconnect between the transportation analyses that agencies conduct and conditions on the ground for providers of sustainable and accessible mobility solutions. Successful implementation of mobility concepts is reliant on inclusive design\, a business and service plan to attract and retain riders and funding\, staff and user training\, and a comprehensive accessible technology base. Accordingly\, we seek contributions from researchers\, practitioners\, and others\, such as non-profits and charitable organizations and manufacturers.  Participants will represent a wide range of lived and professional experiences and discuss how diverse perspectives are included in policy development\, project selection\, and mitigation to advance transportation inclusion and accessibility. \nThe combined TRANSED DRT conference will offer an agenda for participants to attend traditional panel and technical sessions. The conference will include sessions using accepted submissions from this Call for Abstracts that are socially interactive\, engaging\, and enable creative learning and sharing \nOverview\nThe TRANSED series of conferences have\, since 1978\, provided the premier international forum to exchange ideas on what works and why\, and to share innovations\, promising practices\, and technological developments\, and research on accessible transportation\, mobility and travel. TRB’s series of Demand Response conferences have explored the state of practices and innovations in paratransit operations and planning by leading practitioners\, planners and researchers in the paratransit community from across the country and the world. This combined conference will enable a vibrant exchange of perspectives and information\, offering a venue to develop future collaborations. \nThis combined conference will showcase international innovation and technological solutions for accessible transportation and travel through papers\, posters and other media presentation formats\, as well as through an exhibition of products\, services\, and best practices.  Conferees will also have the opportunity to participate in training workshops and technical visits.  Above all\, attendees will study and use the concept of the Complete Trip or Trip Chain to identify elements of trips that need improvement to achieve inclusion for everyone and reduce difficulties and barriers for individual users. \nTwo major crises – global climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic – have highlighted the need for the provision of demand responsive services to reach healthcare\, and accelerated development of new mobility options within the Transit Family of Services. New and developing technologies like microtransit\, micro mobility\, automated vehicles\, and app-based services are also beginning to transform our transportation systems. This conference is the continuation of a long-term effort and process to understand how demand response and fixed route transit and other transportation systems are integrated while addressing accessibility and inclusion. Sustainable projects serving the entire community needs to be the product of community expertise from multiple perspectives\, technical and academic research and analysis\, management motivation\, staff training as well as better design and new accessible technology.
