TODS Briefing: Connect Your Scheduling and Dispatch Systems

Join us on July 14 for our free public briefing on TODS. In much the same way GTFS revolutionized how agencies share schedules with the public, TODS does the same for the operational side: the crew assignments, vehicle blocks, and non-revenue service that scheduling and dispatch systems rely on to actually run service. A growing community of agencies and vendors is building TODS into the tools they already use, so those systems can finally speak a common language instead of a different proprietary format for every product.

Featuring:

  • Timon Kelter, Research & Development Team Lead, Optibus
  • Anne-Sophie Lachapelle, Master’s researcher, Polytechnique Montréal
  • Jeff Kessler, Director of Innovation, Keolis Commuter Services, and TODS Board member
  • Josh Fabian, Deputy Director of Transit Technology, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), and TODS Board Coordinator

Hosted by Carl Fredlund, Strategic Director, MobilityData.

What you’ll gain:

  • What TODS is, and when it’s the right fit for your agency
  • How a common standard ends the custom, brittle handoff between your scheduling and CAD/AVL systems
  • Why your operational data becomes portable, so switching a vendor stops being a re-platforming project
  • How to put TODS into your next procurement, the single highest-leverage step an agency can take
  • What adoption actually takes, from the agencies and vendors already doing it

TODS is stewarded by MobilityData and governed by an independent board of transit agencies and vendors, with origins in the California Integrated Travel Project (Cal-ITP). A growing list of implementers, including Optibus, MBTA, Keolis Commuter Services, Swiftly, and others, is building it into the tools agencies use to plan and operate service.
